We love speaking to our customers about what they love most about having an EV, so we wanted to create a place to share these stories, and help spread the word about how great EVs truly are.
For this post, we spoke to Edward Chapman. Edward is from Cornwall and is self-employed as a coach to people who want to take on extreme running events and an agent for several international multi-day running events.
What EV do you drive and how long have you had it?
Renault Zoe ZE50 Iconic R135 – had it for 1 year and 1 week.
Were there any pre-conceptions you had before you bought your EV, and how do you feel about that now?
I was worried about finding enough public chargers because I cannot charge at home, live in a rural county, and often travel long distances. Now I know that with planning I can have trouble free journey. I also now know where all the local charge points are and when they are likely to be not busy.
What’s your favourite thing about driving an EV?
I love that I now have relaxed long journeys, they take longer because I have to stop and recharge; however, I arrive calm and not stressed.
What's your most important EV etiquette tip?
If someone is waiting, let them know how long you are going to be. They will then be able to make an informed decision about whether to wait or move on to another location.
What do you typically do whilst charging, when you charge on the go?
I normally have coffee and cake.
What’s the most productive thing you’ve done whilst waiting for a charge?
On Saturdays when I charge at a nearby fast charger I volunteer at my local parkrun.
